VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACH LADISLAV LELKES

Ladislav Lelkes joined the East Carolina volleyball program as a volunteer assistant coach in the summer of 2016.

Lelkes has served as an assistant coach for the women's team at his alma mater, Barton College, since 2014. He assisted with a variety of tasks including practice planning, individual skill development and practice execution with an emphasis on offense and blocking. Lelkes also took care of all travel responsibilities as well as assisting and supervising strength and conditioning sessions.

During the 2015 season, Barton was the best blocking team in Conference Carolinas while Lelkes also helped produce a first-team all-conference honoree and two all-state selections. Additionally, three Bulldogs were tabbed to the league's Academic All-Conference Team while Barton earned the AVCA Team Academic Award.

In the spring of 2016, Lelkes was an assistant coach for the Barton men's team that finished as runner up in the Conference Carolinas league tournament - a first in program history. He coached eight all-conference honorees, including the league's Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

Lelkes played collegiately at Elmira College his freshman season before transferring to Barton. At Elmira, he earned a trio of league Freshman of the Week honors while serving as team captain for Barton in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Outside of the collegiate realm, Lelkes was part of the VKP Bratislava volleyball club at various levels from 2001-11. He helped Bratislava to a second-place finish in the National Slovakian League as well as a national championship and Slovakian Cup title.

In the summer of 2014, Lelkes worked as a consultant and translator for JL Inc. in his home country of Slovakia. He assisted in building relationships with international clients and acted as translator during international business meetings. Lelkes also spent time working in the Slovakia Ministry of the Environment in 2013.
